Michael Parmenter, MAS, CEAP, DRCC
Michael will present on the devastation of the US Virgin Islands in the wake of back to back Category 5 Hurricanes Irma and Maria. He will discuss the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and preparations for deployment. Michael will provide information on the NJ Disaster Response Crisis Counselling (DRCC) Program to include qualifications, training and utilization. He will provide an understanding of what was anticipated and the actual conditions presented to include travel, weather, eating and sleeping arrangements. Michael will highlight the importance of managing shifting roles and responsibilities in a disaster environment where devastation is tremendous and resources are few. He will cite examples where crisis counselling services, EAP services, and practical assistance was provided in a disaster setting.
