1. Provide education on evidence-based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
2. Facilitate discussion using case scenarios on best practices for MAT
3. Increase willingness to discuss MAT as tools for recovery
Melinda Goodwin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and has held both since 2010. She has been in the mental health/substance abuse field since 2002. Melinda received her bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University in 2002 and her Masters of Social Work Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007. She has been working as a Program/Clinical Director since 2007 and has had extensive experience working with individuals on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). She was the Vice President of PATOD (Pennsylvania Association of Treatment for Opiate Dependence) for 3 years where she was responsible for advocating for the needs of individuals with opiate use disorder as well as educating the community and families to break the stigma associated with use of MAT.
