Overview of Training:

Behavioral Health, EA programming, workplace safety and wellness has been a staple of assistance for employees for many years in numerous organizations. In public sector first responder agencies the culture and stigma for getting help has slowed the attention of these assistance services. For years the MH and EAP positions have been cautionary services that deterred the utilization of help especially with the trauma focused work.  In the past 5-10 years the acceptance of peer support within many agencies has grown exponentially and many organizations have added this valuable asset to their operational functions.  This training will provide the new foundation and function of peer support and its value as a conduit to workplace mental health wellness and resources. It will establish a strong need for EA attention and provide guidelines for standards of practice and avenues to create training that could develop a means to professional certification.
