Title of presentation:  Understanding Psycho-Oncology: Supporting the Whole Person in Cancer Care

 

Goals/Objectives:

1.     Define Psycho-Oncology: Understand the scope of psycho-oncology and its relevance in cancer care.

2.     Identify Common Psychological Issues in Cancer Patients: Recognize the psychological challenges that cancer patients commonly face, including anxiety, depression, and coping difficulties.

3.     Promote Whole-Person Care: Understand the importance of offering both emotional support and clinical care to foster improved quality of life and holistic healing for cancer patients.

Overview of Training: 

 

This session will offer a foundational understanding of psycho-oncology, providing clinicians with tools and knowledge to better support their patients' mental and emotional well-being throughout their cancer journey.

Attendees will learn how psychological and emotional factors can influence the cancer experience, and how they can integrate psychosocial support into their practice. The talk will explore common psychological challenges faced by cancer patients, as well as strategies for providing compassionate care, improving patient quality of life, and fostering a holistic approach to treatment.
