This training’s goal is to teach participants to be aware of how transference, countertransference, external factors, and our own biases play a role in our interactions with people with substance use disorder.

Relevance to social work profession:
This workshop will assist in increasing competency for clinical professionals and those in direct contact with people who may be struggling in addiction. We will discuss an opportunity to explore hesitations they may have experienced in their respective practice. Additionally, it will increase discussion around strategies and approaches to the counter-transference that occurs in common communications.
